Billionaire shopping mall magnate Rick Caruso is stepping out of the political shadows with a new plan to help swing-seat Democrats retake the House in 2024.
Rick Caruso may not be the last best hope for saving Los Angeles, as some of his faithful followers insist, but he does offer a hope and a vision — and you can trust that you won’t read about him skirting politica, ethics laws and being carted off to prison or thereabouts like too many stereotypical greedy Los Angeles officeholders.
What is it that Politico recently reported? “Caruso has spent months quietly laying the groundwork for his comeback in California, including meetings with top House Democrats in Los Angeles and Washington and donations to their committees.
“In an interview with Politico on his plans, Caruso pledged to throw himself into the five California congressional districts President Joe Biden won in 2020 that are now held by Republicans.
“He also anticipates being involved in the presidential and U.S. Senate races and wants to court Latino voters who failed to tip the scales in his favor in his own mayoral race last year.”
In his most recent newsletter, Caruso wrote:
“The Caruso Family Foundation is devoted to supporting children at or below the poverty line through access to education and health care. Last month, my wife, kids, and I were blessed to join Para Los Niños’ back-to-school program, where we helped students and families prepare for the first day of school with backpacks and school supplies.”
